What is EnergyFile?
EnergyFile, also called Research File Manager, is an AI document manager for research libraries. You store PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint files, search them by meaning instead of exact keywords, and ask questions that come back with answers citing the source document and page.
Which file formats can I upload?
PDF (scanned PDFs go through OCR), DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, TXT and Markdown. A background worker indexes files asynchronously, so a large upload does not slow the app down while it is processed.
How much does EnergyFile cost?
Reader is $15/month with a limited number of AI questions and one collection. Researcher is $39/month with unlimited cited Q&A, every collection, and document brief and compare. Institutional, with unlimited seats and API access, is quoted per organisation. An on-premise licence is $950 and includes a year of updates and support, renewing at 20% a year.
Can different users see different documents?
Yes. Access is filtered down to individual text chunks, so each user only gets search results and answers from files their subscription tier allows. Files can be grouped into collections by product, publisher, tag and category.
How is it different from Notion AI or Perplexity?
Perplexity searches the public web; EnergyFile only answers from your own library and cites the page each answer came from. Compared with Notion AI it adds OCR for scanned PDFs, tier-based access control, a self-hosted option, and full Persian and English support with right-to-left text.
