Zendesk vs Freshdesk AI Pricing: What 10 and 30 Agents Pay in November 2026

Zendesk bills USD 1.50 to 2.00 for each AI resolution an LLM verifies. Freshdesk bills USD 49 per 100 AI sessions, solved or not. Monthly costs for 10- and 30-agent Gulf teams with the arithmetic, the break-even near one in three, and what changed since August.

Zendesk vs Freshdesk AI Pricing: What 10 and 30 Agents Pay in November 2026

Zendesk and Freshdesk both include an AI agent in their helpdesk plans now, and both charge for it on top of the seat price. They meter it differently. Zendesk bills for each conversation its AI agent resolves and an LLM then verifies. Freshdesk bills for each session its AI agent takes part in, whether or not the customer's problem gets solved. That one difference decides which bill is smaller for your team.

Below are the current rules from each vendor's own pricing pages and help centre, checked on 2 November 2026, worked into monthly costs for a 10-agent and a 30-agent support team in the Gulf. We wrote yesterday about a similar shift at Atlassian, where Jira Service Management moves AI to Rovo credits from 3 December.

How Zendesk charges for AI today

Seats first. On Zendesk's pricing page, Support Team is USD 19 per agent per month billed yearly (USD 25 monthly), Suite Team is USD 55 (USD 69 monthly) and Suite Professional is USD 115 (USD 149 monthly). Suite Enterprise has no public price; the page says "Talk to Sales".

The AI agent itself is included in every plan, and the billing unit is the automated resolution. The same pricing table lists 5 included automated resolutions per agent per month on Support Team and Suite Team, 10 on Suite Professional, "up to 10k per year", then USD 1.50 per committed resolution bought in advance and USD 2.00 per pay-as-you-go resolution.

Since 18 May 2026, Zendesk sorts every AI conversation into three resolution tiers. An "assisted escalation" (the AI helped, a human finished) and a "contained resolution" (the customer went quiet but the LLM check did not confirm a fix) do not count against your allowance. Only a "verified resolution" does. For email, the conversation is judged 72 hours after the first email; for messaging, 2 hours after the first message by default.

There is a wrinkle worth knowing before you budget. Zendesk's help article on managing resolution allowances describes the included amount as a dollar pool, not a count: USD 2 per agent seat per month on Team, USD 5 on Suite Growth and Professional, USD 10 on Enterprise, capped at USD 5,000 a year, with no carry-over. It does not list what each tier costs, and the upgrade guide says the prices in its example invoices are placeholders and to contact Sales. So the per-resolution rate under the new tier model is not fully public. The USD 1.50 and USD 2.00 figures on the pricing page are the only published rates, and we use them below.

Overage is on by default. The allowance article lists "Allow overage" as the default setting, billed monthly regardless of your contract term. You can switch to pausing the AI agent at the limit, which routes customers to humans instead.

The agent-side AI is separate. Copilot is an add-on at USD 50 per agent per month paid yearly, available on Professional and above, according to the pricing page. A monthly Copilot price is not published. Suite Professional also gets a small pooled allowance of 5 Copilot uses per agent per month for some features, capped at 500 per instance.

How Freshdesk charges for AI today

Freshdesk's pricing page lists Growth at USD 19, Pro at USD 55 and Enterprise at USD 89 per agent per month, billed annually. Every paid plan includes "Freddy AI Agent (first 500 sessions included)", and the FAQ on the same page says those 500 are "limited to once per account". After that, additional AI agent sessions cost USD 49 per 100.

A session is not a resolution. For the Email AI Agent, Freshworks defines a session as "a 72-hour window starting from the customer's first email", with every AI reply in that window counted once (Freshdesk add-on guide). Chat sessions in Freshdesk Omni run for 24 hours. You pay for the window whether the AI solved the issue or handed it to a person. The pricing FAQ adds that session packs are valid for your payment cycle, so on quarterly billing they expire quarterly.

Freddy AI Copilot, the agent-side assistant, is USD 29 per agent per month on Pro and Enterprise, and the pricing FAQ says it "can be purchased and assigned to any number of agents of your choice".

What changed recently, with dates

  • 13 August 2026, Zendesk. Native Zendesk actions, and actions invoked by AI agents and Copilot, stopped consuming action credits. Only third-party connectors and custom actions use them now. The allowance and price did not change; the pricing page still shows USD 200 per 100,000 extra actions.
  • 12 August 2026, Freshworks. Freshworks updated its session FAQ for Freshchat and Freshdesk Omni. It dates the USD 49 per 100 price to first-time purchases from 13 November 2025 and says older contracts that include 2,000, 3,000 or 5,000 sessions a month keep them.
  • Now listed, date not published, Freshdesk. The pricing page shows MCP actions at USD 15 per 1,000 as an add-on on every plan.
  • Price after 31 December 2026 not public, Freshservice. Freddy AI Agent Studio for IT and HR service desks is a promotional free service until 31 December 2026, and Freshworks says pricing "will be shared closer to the end of the promotional period".

The bigger structural moves came earlier in the year. On 11 May 2026 Zendesk dropped the separate Essential and Advanced AI agent plans, and the resolution tiers followed on 18 May. Freshworks made the Email AI Agent available on Freshdesk Pro and Enterprise from 29 May 2026, per its May launch notes. Zendesk also describes a model with unlimited seats and a shared outcome budget, but no prices for it are published.

Worked example: 10 agents and 30 agents

These volumes are illustrative, not benchmarks. Picture an email-first Gulf team where each agent handles about 300 tickets a month, so 3,000 tickets for 10 agents and 9,000 for 30. The AI agent is switched on for the simplest third of incoming email (1,000 and 3,000 conversations), and 60% of those end as verified resolutions (600 and 1,800). Everyone gets the agent-side copilot. All figures are USD list prices on annual billing, before VAT.

Three notes on the table. First, the Zendesk included resolutions use the pricing page count (10 per agent). If your contract follows the help centre's dollar pool instead, USD 5 per seat covers fewer resolutions: 10 × 5 = USD 50 against 100 × 1.50 = USD 150, so add about USD 100 a month for 10 agents and USD 300 for 30. Second, Freshdesk's 500 free sessions apply once per account, so they lower only the first month's bill, by 5 packs or USD 245.

Where the two models cross over

Take the AI line on its own. Zendesk charges USD 1.50 per verified resolution and nothing for the conversations it fails. Freshdesk charges USD 0.49 per session (49 ÷ 100) for every conversation the AI touches. Divide 0.49 by 1.50 and you get roughly 33%. If fewer than about a third of the conversations your AI agent handles end as verified resolutions, Zendesk's per-outcome model is cheaper for that line. Above a third, Freshdesk's session packs are.

Now give the 10-agent team a weaker AI that verifies only 300 of its 1,000 conversations. Zendesk's AI line drops to (300 − 100) × 1.50 = USD 300. Freshdesk's stays at USD 490, because the sessions were used either way. Per resolved ticket that is USD 1.00 against USD 1.63. With the stronger 60% rate in the table, it flips to USD 1.25 (750 ÷ 600) against USD 0.82 (490 ÷ 600).

For most Gulf teams the deciding factor is Arabic. An AI agent that handles English well but stumbles on Gulf dialect or mixed Arabic and English messages will resolve fewer conversations, which pushes you toward the side of the line where Freshdesk costs more per real fix. Test with your own ticket history before you buy session packs. We covered why resolution rates often lag the headline deflection numbers in our piece on the AI deflection gap.

Settings to check this week

In Zendesk, open Admin Center, then Account, then Billing, and look at the resolution allowance dashboard. Decide on the overage setting deliberately. It defaults to "allow", and a campaign spike will bill at USD 2.00 a resolution. If you can forecast volume, committed resolutions at USD 1.50 cost 25% less. Ask which allowance model your contract uses.

In Freshdesk, check whether auto-recharge is on for session packs, and remember unused packs expire at the end of the cycle. Limit the Email AI Agent to ticket types it can actually close, because every escalated thread still used a session. Buy Copilot only for agents who will use it.

And keep the seat price in view. In both examples, seats are the largest line. For a straight feature comparison of the two platforms against a self-hosted option, see FanDesk vs Zendesk vs Freshdesk.

Where FanDesk fits: it is a ticketing system with flat pricing, not a per-resolution AI product. Cloud plans are USD 69 a month for up to 10 agents or USD 139 for unlimited agents, and the on-premise licence is a one-time USD 2,900, as listed on the FanDesk page. Teams that want to keep ticket data on their own servers in the UAE or Saudi Arabia can start there.

FAQ

Does Zendesk charge when the AI agent escalates to a human?

No. Assisted escalations and contained resolutions do not count against the resolution allowance. Only verified resolutions, confirmed by Zendesk's LLM check at the end of the conversation, are billed.

How much does an extra Zendesk automated resolution cost?

The pricing page lists USD 1.50 per committed resolution bought in advance and USD 2.00 per pay-as-you-go resolution. Under the resolution tier model introduced on 18 May 2026, Zendesk does not publish per-tier prices and refers customers to Sales.

What is a Freddy AI Agent session in Freshdesk?

For the Email AI Agent, a session is a 72-hour window from the customer's first email, with all AI replies in that window counted once. Chat sessions in Freshdesk Omni last 24 hours. Additional sessions cost USD 49 per 100.

Are the 500 free Freshdesk AI sessions monthly?

No. Freshworks says the 500 sessions are a one-time allowance per account on the Growth, Pro and Enterprise plans.

Which is cheaper for AI, Zendesk or Freshdesk?

It depends on how many AI conversations end as verified resolutions. At list prices the break-even is about one in three: below that, Zendesk's per-resolution billing costs less for the AI line; above it, Freshdesk's sessions do.
